Make the Consecration to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary
Today on the 15th of August we celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We have been praying the Novena to Our Lady Assumed, which ended yesterday. Today we invite you to make the Consecration to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. The PDF can be downloaded here. The Diocese of Klerksdorp will be consecrating their parishes to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary today. Please join us in the praying the following prayers.
Prayers to Make the Consecration to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary
Act of Reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
O sweetest Jesus, whose overflowing charity towards men is most ungratefully repaid by such great forgetfulness, neglect and contempt, see, prostrate before Thy altars, we strive by special honor to make amends for the wicked coldness of men and the contumely with which Thy most loving Heart is everywhere treated.
At the same time, mindful of the fact that we too have sometimes not been free from unworthiness, and moved therefore with most vehement sorrow, in the first place we implore Thy mercy on us, being prepared by voluntary expiation to make amends for the sins we have ourselves committed, and also for the sins of those who wander far from the way of salvation, whether because, being obstinate in their unbelief, they refuse to follow Thee as their shepherd and leader, or because, spurning the promises of their Baptism, they have cast off the most sweet yoke of Thy law.
We now endeavor to expiate all these lamentable crimes together, and it is also our purpose to make amends for each one of them separately: for the want of modesty in life and dress, for impurities, for so many snares set for the minds of the innocent, for the violation of feast days, for the horrid blasphemies against Thee and Thy saints, for the insults offered to Thy Vicar and to the priestly order, for the neglect of the Sacrament of Divine love or its profanation by horrible sacrileges, and lastly for the public sins of nations which resist the rights and the teaching authority of the Church which Thou hast instituted. Would that we could wash away these crimes with our own blood!
And now, to make amends for the outrage offered to the Divine honor, we offer to Thee the same satisfaction which Thou didst once offer to Thy Father on the Cross and which Thou dost continually renew on our altars, we offer this conjoined with the expiations of the Virgin Mother and of all the Saints, and of all pious Christians, promising from our heart that so far as in us lies, with the help of Thy grace, we will make amends for our own past sins, and for the sins of others, and for the neglect of Thy boundless love, by firm faith, by a pure way of life, and by a perfect observance of the Gospel law, especially that of charity; we will also strive with all our strength to prevent injuries being offered to Thee, and gather as many as we can to become Thy followers.
Receive, we beseech Thee, O most benign Jesus, by the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Reparatress, the voluntary homage of this expiation, and vouchsafe, by that great gift of final perseverance, to keep us most faithful until death in our duty and in Thy service, so that at length we may all come to that fatherland, where Thou with the Father and the Holy Ghost livest and reignest God for ever and ever. Amen.
Act of Reparation to the Immaculate Heart
Most Holy Virgin, and our beloved Mother, we listen with grief to the complaints of thy Immaculate Heart, surrounded with thorns which ungrateful men place therein at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. Moved by the ardent desire of loving thee as our Mother and of promoting true devotion to thy Immaculate Heart, we prostrate ourselves at thy feet to prove the sorrow we feel for the grief that men cause thee and to atone by means of our prayers and sacrifices for the offences with which men return thy tender love.
Obtain for them and for us the pardon of so many sins. A word from thee will obtain grace and forgiveness for us all. Hasten O Lady, the conversion of sinners, that they may love Jesus and cease to offend God, already so much offended, and thus avoid eternal punishment. Turn thine eyes of mercy toward us so that henceforth we may love God with all our hearts while on earth and enjoy Him forever in Heaven. Amen.
Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, who didst make known to St. Margaret Mary Thine ardent desire to reign over Christian families, behold us assembled here today to proclaim Thine absolute dominion over us.
Henceforth we purpose to lead a life like unto Thine, so that amongst us may flourish the virtues for which Thou didst promise peace on earth, and for this end we will banish from our midst the spirit of the world which Thou dost abhor so much.
Thou wilt reign over our understanding by the simplicity of our faith. Thou wilt reign over our hearts by an ardent love for Thee; and may the flame of this love be kept burning in our hearts by the frequent reception of the Holy Eucharist.
Deign, O Divine Heart, to preside over our meetings, to bless our undertakings, both spiritual and temporal, to banish all worry and care, to sanctify our joys and soothe our sorrows. If any of us should ever have the misfortune to grieve Thy Sacred Heart, remind him of Thy goodness and mercy toward the repentant sinner.
Lastly when the hour of separation will sound and death will plunge our homes into mourning, then shall we all and every one of us be resigned to Thy eternal decrees, and seek consolation in the thought that we shall one day be reunited in Heaven, where we shall sing the praises and blessings of Thy Sacred Heart for all eternity. Amen
Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
O Admirable Mother of God, most glorious Queen of the world, in deepest reverence we cast ourselves before Thy Throne at the right Hand of Thy Son Jesus Christ, in order to present our homage to Thee, and through Thee to Thy Divine Son.
In the presence of the whole Court of Heaven and before the whole world, we proclaim loudly and solemnly that Jesus Christ, Thy Son, is true God and true man, Lord and King of all creation. To Him we present our loving homage.
But all the Angels and mankind are destined by God to belong also to Thee and to serve Thee. Of our own free will and with fervent love we will elect Thee as our Queen, surrendering and consecrating to Thy Heart, without reserve, all that we are, and all that we have. Therefore we confess and proclaim Thee today anew and forever as true Queen of us. We deliver, give and consecrate without reserve to Thy Heart ourselves with all that pertains thereto: ourselves, all those entrusted to our care and all possessions, as far as my power extends. Be Thou our Queen!
Behold, all is Thine, in order to belong through Thee entirely to the Heart of Thy Son, Our King Jesus Christ. Graciously accept our promise of entire service and dispose of everything according to Thy most holy pleasure, so that through Thy mediation the Heart of our God- King Jesus Christ may reign over us more and more. We will be faithful in Thy service, and in order not to waver in our fidelity, we will renew this solemn surrender every year.
Descend anew from heavenly heights and take possession of Thy dominion. With holy joy we bid Thee welcome, as Our Queen. We are all Thine, O Mary! And Thine we wish to be. Amen.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus: Have mercy on us! (3 times)
Immaculate Heart of Mary: Pray for us.
St. Joseph: Pray for us.
St. Michael the Archangel: Pray for us.
Glory to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus forever and ever! Amen.
