33 Day Total Consecration to Jesus Through Mary

Saint Louis de Montfort had a great devotion to Our Lady and promoted devotion to her. He wrote a book entitled “True Devotion to Mary”. His devotion to Mary was regarded as one of the most perfect. Many Popes over the last two centuries have recommended his devotion to Mary, such as Saint Pius X, who said: “I heartily recommend True Devotion to The Blessed Virgin, so admirably written by [Saint] De Montfort, and to all who read it grant the Apostolic Benediction.”

The Holy Saint, Saint Louis de Montfort, suggested a formula of total consecration to Jesus, through Mary which is to be done over a period of 33 days.  There are various titles for this practice: “Total Consecration,” “True Devotion,” or “Holy Slavery.” There is a copy of the consecration with space available for ones name and signature available here.

The consecration of Saint Louis de Montfort  is usually done after the preparation on a Marian feast day. The table below has the dates for the start of the devotion and the consecration day.

The Prayers for the Consecration by Saint Louis de Montfort:

The preparation is broken into 4 stages. The first 12 days are dedicated to detachment from the spirit of the world. The next 7 days, or the first week, is dedicated to knowledge of self. The second week is dedicated to knowledge of Mary. The last week is dedicated to knowledge of Our Blessed Lord. Thus, it is a total of 33 days. There are various places to find the prayers for this devotion and they will be provided below.
